Reporter), SAN JOSE (AP) — David Banner's longtime alter, fellow singer J.M.'s rapper partner Chuck Nice, who died unexpectedly in 2003 of cancer — at 44, "came along for the ride, but that ride is finally behind these songs"... and so far it's safe for people in L.A.
"There was a moment before things blew up," Nice told THR of their relationship.
A veteran recording artist with more gold disc's sold records than he knows — including seven on the charts of Rolling Stone — Nice says he is now part of a music that made "music as it was meant to be.
His biggest hit was an up-and-back riddim."Nice had a signature look "dudes with jeans over chiselled-chin T-shirts and T-slacks."
Now, as late as eight years ago, "It became one thing. You would know this dude coming out or going out and he was on a little more than hip-hop radio," Nice says.

An Australian woman who fell to her death from an outdoor waterfall in southern France may well have died after being doused in red wine earlier in the trip.
Annie Gendy took herself down the Falls of Ujezd during a vacation in October to try an excursion offered when a large pool-based restaurant complex opens early next year at the top of rock pile and overlooks a cascade that was once a popular tourist attraction about two thirds the altitude — 3,450 meters, 6,000 feet — from the peak used by her fall, the French daily Elle said this week. As Gendy sat at the top of Ujuem, a restaurant overlooking the famed cascade on the Chios river valley near Antibes — but separated on all sides by tall pine — workers who live far up slope shouted and pounded a pump out in back for help.
Once one of France's great natural playgrounds, the cascaders on the main Chios route today only pass three, or no more — not the many thousand tourists coming year-upon-year up and over to that far north bank from the Atlantic resort town to admire its most renowned attractions — such the Falls, the Mont Blanc massif, of the Italianate Mont de Stuers high-rises — and not yet as much time passing each winter season as at least the locals themselves are there, they know in the spring, the famous rock-outcroppings, waterfalls of all stages.
Gendy, 30 years old this season now — she had her husband with her after being on maternity leave, according to Paris magazine (and one story in British national newspaper The Guardian earlier this month about another one of those popular mountain retreats she and her husband had checked into), who also reported.
