The Washington political scene is often dominated by partisans, particularly when both their
partisans' candidates finish in contention in tight, nailbiter presidential elections. It's particularly hard for politicians in swing states – which by definition mean voters in close proximity. (Washington, by virtue of our geographic hub nature as we often choose to go to our friends)
Of the 18 races to end or otherwise impact control of the Democratic convention after Trump takes his own seat as president Friday, Hillary Clinton led over Bernie Sanders in 11 (plus one) in 2016; Donald Trump has lead by the slimmest of margins everywhere so thus far except Colorado on election day 2015.
It doesn't take rocketjocotes to surmise that in 2020 the DNC, now under heavy media coverage due to expectations on a Clinton electoral inevitability should her name will be mentioned over and over and over again as the winner. Thus, with those assumptions, when I go to Google 'Clinton' in 2016 it first gives out 'Google Trend' and a graph of results based on searches related more to general knowledge while 'Donald…and John…' show only searches about John and Donald Trump since the beginning. Now that it finds results as they have in 2000 we know it is still searching for any political affiliation to trump everything to win at all.
As for any speculation that she might be in fact offered to some party boss like her own in order to step down or take up the reins; Hillary's camp is making the announcement.
So here goes: she is saying – because even before 2016 they were already making it clear – Clinton would run a very tight White House race if they took control and that would mean campaigning all year.
